Stuart in studio

Stuart Atkinson was born in Yorkshire in 1940 where he developed his love of painting, working mainly in the Yorkshire dales. A move to Guernsey in the late 1960's became a 25 year stay during which time he painted prolifically throughout the Channel Islands, France, Germany and Greece and exhibited regularly, becoming one of the foremost contemporary Channel Islands artists.

In 1995 he and his wife moved to Suffolk and following various mixed artist exhibitions he held his first Suffolk one-man exhibition in 2001. Numerous one man shows have followed and he is now exhibiting annually in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.

This year's collection can be viewed at: http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/16480610/1/Stuart-Atkinson-2011?h=6a9fd4

Stuart’s work forms part of many private collections worldwide as well as corporate collections including Kleinwort Benson and Bank of Bermuda. His work also forms a part of the collection of the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery in the Channel Islands.

Stuart works from his studio situated in the idyllic village of Lower Ufford in the heart of the Deben valley yet close to the many painting attractions of the Heritage Coast.

From his studio he runs regular teaching courses and short break painting workshops (see the “Tuition and Painting Workshops” section on this website).
